In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and Sveti Ivan Zelina. In Lukarišće in Dugo Selo every twentieth inhabitant had the family name Šindler.
Prevalence
About 60 people with faimily name Šindler live in Croatia today, in 20 households. There were 80 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 30 percent. They are located in 7 Croatian counties and 5 other places, mostly in Zagreb (30), Donja Zelina (10), Lukarisce (<10), Sveti Ivan Zelina (<10), and in Soblinec (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
