In Croatia, Šišul families are almost entirely Croats (from Bakar ), barely Bosniaks (from Vrbovsko ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Middle Bosnia (Sarajevo area) and in Zagreb.
Prevalence
About 50 people with faimily name Šišul live in Croatia today, in 20 households. There were 70 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 40 percent. They are located in threee Croatian counties and two other places, mostly in Zagreb (20), Jablan (10), Rijeka (<10), Krasica (<10), and in Bakar (<5).
Outside Croatia
At least three families with this surname emigrated from Croatia to the United States (2) and Germany (1). Family name Šišul (including: Sisul , Shishul and Sissul ) is present in five countries on four continents. The family name "Sisul " is used by some 300 people in the United States and about 200 in Paraguay.
