In Croatia, Šerer families are almost entirely Croats (from Slatina area ), barely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Slatina area and in Pozega. In Mačkovac in Slatina area every tenth inhabitant had the family name Šerer.
Prevalence
About 60 people with faimily name Šerer live in Croatia today, in 30 households. There were 80 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 30 percent. They are located in 8 Croatian counties, in 12 cities and two other places, mostly in Slatina (15), Kuzmica (10), Zadar (<10), Zagreb (<10), and in Baska Voda in Makarska area (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
