Surname Šeremet in modern Croatia

Šeremet families are mainly Croats and they are mostly from Zlatar area , barely Bosniaks. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Western Bosnia (Livno area) and in Zlatar area. In Vinipotok in Zlatar area every eighth inhabitant had the family name Šeremet.

Prevalence

About 370 people with faimily name Šeremet live in Croatia today, in 150 households. There were 170 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number doubled.
They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 26 cities and 35 other places, mostly in Zagreb (110), Vinipotok in Zlatar area (45), Split (30), Osijek (20), and in Vukovar (15).

Family name Šeremet (including: Sheremet , Seremet , Szeremet , Scheremet and Seremeth ) is present in 35 countries worldwide. "Seremeth " is used by small number of people in the United States. "Szeremet " is used by some 200 people in Poland , about 80 in the United States , and small number of people in Korea (South).
