Šeketa families are Croats and they are mostly from Samobor area. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Duga Resa and Karlovac. In Šeketino Brdo in Duga Resa every second inhabitant had the family name Šeketa.
Prevalence
About 270 people with faimily name Šeketa live in Croatia today, in 100 households. There were 310 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 10 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 16 cities and 26 other places, mostly in Duga Resa (30), Mreznicki Brig (25), Zagreb (25), Jagnjic Dol in Samobor area (25), and in Karlovac (20).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
