Šegović families are Croats and they are mostly from Peljesac Peninsula. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Varazdin and Cakovec. In Zdenčec in Cazma every fifth inhabitant had the family name Šegović.
Prevalence
About 440 people with faimily name Šegović live in Croatia today, in 160 households. There were 310 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 40 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 20 cities and 47 other places, mostly in Zagreb (55), Varazdin (30), Split (25), Mala Subotica in Cakovec area (25), and in Cakovec (25).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 1929 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
