Šeb families are Croats and they are mostly from Sveti Ivan Zelina. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Sveti Ivan Zelina and Zagreb. In Kalinje in Sveti Ivan Zelina every fifth inhabitant had the family name Šeb.
Prevalence
About 170 people with faimily name Šeb live in Croatia today, in 80 households. There were 280 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 40 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 17 cities and 22 other places, mostly in Kalinje (50), Zagreb (20), Pretoki (15), Sveta Helena (<10), and in Krecaves (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
