In Croatia, Šahić families are predominantly Bosniaks (from Middle Bosnia ), very rarely Croats (from Bosnian Krajina ), and . In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Bosnian Krajina (Teslic area) and in Middle Bosnia (Breza area). In Sutješćica in Middle Bosnia every third inhabitant had the family name Šahić.
Prevalence
About 20 people with faimily name Šahić live in Croatia today, in 7 households. There were 10 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number doubled. They are located in threee Croatian counties, two cities and another small place , mostly in Funtana in Rovinj area (15), Glina (<5), and in Dubrovnik (<5).
