Đilas families are mainly Croats and they are mostly from Novska area , often Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Vinkovci and in Novska area. In Begluci in Knin area every ninth inhabitant had the family name Đilas.

About 130 people with faimily name Đilas live in Croatia today, in 60 households. There were 170 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 20 percent.
