Đerek families are Croats and they are mostly from Imotsko. According to some sources they are from Bugojnog. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Imotsko and in Herzegovina (Posusje area). In Varošište in Middle Bosnia every fourth inhabitant had the family name Đerek.

About 640 people with faimily name Đerek live in Croatia today, in 250 households. There were 320 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number doubled.
They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 34 cities and 48 other places, mostly in Split (120), Zagreb (120), Imotski (45), Dubrovnik (25), and in Podstrana in Solin area (25).
