Čuka families are almost entirely Croats and they are mostly from Zaglav on Dugi (Long) Island, rarely Hungarians. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zadar and on Dugi, Long Island. In Zaglav on Dugi (Long) Island every eighth inhabitant had the family name Čuka.
Prevalence
About 100 people with faimily name Čuka live in Croatia today, in 50 households. There were 120 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 20 percent. They are located in 8 Croatian counties, in 8 cities and 13 other places, mostly in Zadar (30), Zaglav on Dugi (Long) Island (15), Sibenik (<10), Split (<10), and in Marcelji in Rijeka area (<10).
