Čugura families are Croats and they are mostly from Sinj. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Sinj and Slavonski Brod. In Jasensko in Sinj every fifth inhabitant had the family name Čugura.
Prevalence
About 230 people with faimily name Čugura live in Croatia today, in 90 households. There were 120 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number doubled. They are located in 8 Croatian counties, in 14 cities and 14 other places, mostly in Jasensko (50), Sinj (40), Split (20), Selna in Slavonski Brod area (20), and in Slavonski Brod (15).

Family name Čugura (including: Cugura , Cugurra and Chugura ) is present in 13 countries on four continents.
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 1923 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
