Čoko families are mainly Croats and they are mostly from east Herzegovina , also Bosniaks (from Serbia ) very rarely Albanians (also from Serbia ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in East Herzegovina (Stolac area) and in Middle Bosnia (Bugojno area). In Borojevići in East Herzegovina every fourth inhabitant had the family name Čoko.
Prevalence
About 110 people with faimily name Čoko live in Croatia today, in 50 households. There were 80 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 40 percent. They are located in 10 Croatian counties, in 16 cities and 16 other places, mostly in Rijeka (50), Knin (10), Zagreb (10), Slime (10), and in Cerna in Zupanja area (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 2007 in source Encyclopaedia of Croatian Surnames.
