Čenić families are mainly Croats and they are mostly from Pozega , often Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Knin area and in Pozega. In Uzdolje in Knin area every ninth inhabitant had the family name Čenić.
Prevalence
About 90 people with faimily name Čenić live in Croatia today, in 50 households. There were 200 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number halved. They are located in 10 Croatian counties, in 10 cities and 9 other places, mostly in Pozega (15), Uzdolje in Knin area (10), Split (10), Zagreb (<10), and in Sibenik (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1692 in source Catholic Church Parish Records.
