Prevalence
About 150 people with faimily name Češljar live in Croatia today, in 50 households. There were 110 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 40 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 11 cities and 10 other places, mostly in Donji Prolozac (50) and Postranje (40) in Imotski area, Podstrana in Solin area (10), Cepin in Osijek area (10), and in Sikirevci in Zupanja area (<10).
Outside Croatia
Family name Češljar is present in this form only in Croatia.
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1917 in source List of Dignitaries, Officials and Public Servants of the Kingdom of Croatia-Slavonia.
