Čaleta families are Croats and they are mostly from Solin area. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Split and Sibenik.
Prevalence
About 130 people with faimily name Čaleta live in Croatia today, in 50 households. There were 370 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased significantly. They are located in 8 Croatian counties, in 15 cities and 14 other places, mostly in Split (25), Zagreb (20), Sibenik (15), Dubrovnik (15), and in Bilice in Sibenik area (10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1933 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
