Ćaleta families are Croats and they are mostly from Sibenik area. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Trogir area and in Sinj area. In Vinovac in Trogir area every third inhabitant had the family name Ćaleta.
Prevalence
About 550 people with faimily name Ćaleta live in Croatia today, in 230 households. There were 130 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number multiplied. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 34 cities and 37 other places, mostly in Sibenik (85), Split (75), Zagreb (45), Bilice in Sibenik area (40), and in Trogir (35).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1933 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
