Memories: Perković Ivan


 Born in 1936 in Biograd Na Moru to Ante and Milka Perković. Family moved to Dakovo where they set up their roots in the Later part of 1930’s/1940’.   Pekan as he was referred too often by his friends,  loved Soccer he was a keen Hajduk follower. Dad’s choice of work was a cobbler and successfully completed his trade with honours. He dabbled in the theatre for few years. First worked as a puppeteer and later acted on stage at a  local theatre in town.  He was most proud of that time of his life.  In 1959/1960 he married Zdenka Cibric  had two children (myself) and my brother Zeljko and moved to Vukovar with Zdenka’s Parents. He worked in Borovo Selo in the Bata Shoe company up until 1969.  In 1970 he uprooted his young family of four and travelled to Australia for a better life. Ivo, as he is also known purchased his first and only home in Moorooka Brisbane and owned it up until his passing in the year of 2000. He was survived by his wife Zdenka, Children Snezana and Zeljko, son-in-law Ian, and two grandsons Jason and Adam.
