My maternal grandfather, Nikola Madjeruh, was born on July 27, 1888 in Hrzenik, Croatia in House 11.  He immigrated to the United States in 1909 and married my grandmother, Treza Cuk from Krasic, in 2012.  By the 1940 census, the last name had been Americanized to Materoh.  Knowing that he was one of almost 20 children, I am surprised that there are not more than 4 households with the same last name.
