Memories: Gorše

My great grandfather João Guerche (Janez Gorše) cam from Former Yugoslavia to Brazil around 1898. Here in Brazil, he lived in São Carlos, SP, married twice and had 15 children. Most of his children moved to a new created city (1948) named Votuporanga, SP. All of them married and had many children. My grandfather, Janez's 5th son and one of first Votuporanga's citizens, married twice and had 7 children. At arriving in Brazil our great grandfather had its name and surname morphed into a brazilian portuguese name phonetically similar to the one he had at Former Yugoslavia. Today we have family members at the 6th and 7th generation living mainly in the São Paulo state, but with some living in Santa Catarina, Minas Gerais, Mato Grosso and Pará.
