The Brebers of Gornja and Donja Stubica settled there in the 16th century coming from Turopolje where there are still families with the surname Brebrich. They all came originally from Bribir in the Ravni Kotar which they had to leave when the Turks arrived at the beginning of the 16th century. The kindred is called Subich in history books but this was not the surname that is or was used by the members themselves.
