Potočnica is located in the City of Novalja, in Lika-Senj County and it covers the area of 2.79 km² (1.08 sq. miles). According to the 2011 census report, there were only ten inhabitants left. It is entirely populated by Croats. Nearby places: Stara Novalja, Novalja, Lun, Caska, Gajac, Jablanac, Kolanjski Gajac, Prizna, Stinica and Barbat na Rabu.
