Gornje Planjane is located in the municipality Unešić, in Šibenik-Knin County at an elevation of 414 meters above sea level and it covers the area of 7.32 km² (2.83 sq. miles). According to the 2011 census report, there were 166 inhabitants. It is entirely populated by Croats. Nearby places: Unešić, Sedramić, Moseć, Donje Planjane, Nevest, Ostrogašica, Podumci, Donje Utore, Kričke and Koprno.
