Cernik is located in the municipality Žumberak, in Zagreb County at an elevation of 403 meters above sea level and it covers the area of 2.01 km² (0.78 sq. miles). According to the 2011 census report, there were only 11 inhabitants. It is entirely populated by Croats. Nearby places: Plavci, Reštovo Žumberačko, Stupe, Kordići Žumberački, Kupčina Žumberačka, Sopote, Visoće, Gornji Oštrc, Sošice and Stari Grad Žumberački.
