Juro Požega (later George Pozgar) was born in Bosiljevo, Karlovac County, Croatia, around 1883.
He immigrated to the United States through Ellis Island, where he first arrived in 1907, and returned permanently in 1913.
It is important for fellow researchers to note that his surname POŽEGA is consistently anglicized and officially recorded as POZGAR (sometimes Požgar) in all American records, including his final settlement in Claysburg, Pennsylvania. His Croatian name, Juro (Juraj), was simplified to George.
His original last permanent residence in Croatia was Bosiljevo (at that time a territory of the Austrian Empire).
