In Croatia, Hure families are Croats (from the Island of Hvar ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Split and on the Island of Hvar.
Prevalence
About 60 people with faimily name Hure live in Croatia today, in 20 households. There were 50 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 10 percent. They are located in threee Croatian counties and two other places, mostly in Hvar (20) and Brusje (10) on the Island of Hvar, Dubrovnik (10), Split (<10), and in Zagreb (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1729 in source Catholic Church Parish Records.
