Golub families are Croats and they are mostly from Ivanec area. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and Krapina. In Dubravec in Ivanec area every seventh inhabitant had the family name Golub.
Prevalence
About 1700 people with faimily name Golub live in Croatia today, in 720 households. There were 1600 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 10 percent. They are located in all Croatian counties, in 67 cities and 198 other places, mostly in Zagreb (285), Varazdin (70), Dubravec in Ivanec area (65), Lepajci (50), and in Cakovec (40).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over forty times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
