Damiani families are mainly Croats and they are mostly from Buje , but often Italians (also from Buje ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Buje and in Slovenia. In Lozari in Buje every third inhabitant had the family name Damiani.
Prevalence
About 90 people with faimily name Damiani live in Croatia today, in 40 households. There were 120 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 30 percent. They are located in 8 Croatian counties, in 13 cities and 13 other places, mostly in Umag (15), Valica (<10), Lozari (<10), Vodnjan in Pula area (<10), and in Zagreb (<5).
Outside Croatia
At least three families with this surname emigrated from Croatia to the United States (2) and Australia (1). Family name Damiani (including: Damiany , Damyani ) is present in 72 countries worldwide.
